Products of the Causeway Analysis Phase
This involved the detailed definition and documentation of the information that needs to be shared between two or more criminal justice organisations. All the work was carried out in workshops by composite teams drawn from the agencies and supported by Causeway facilitators. More than 70 CJO staff were involved in producing these maps and it took almost eight months to complete.
Process Models
These map the criminal justice process from end-to-end focusing on where information is shared between the justice organisations.. Both the current and proposed new ('to be') processes have been defined. Causeway has used swimlane diagrams to show these processes visually:
The Data Model
The data model defines all the data that has been agreed as 'shared' by the participating justice organisations and will underpin the application software being developed by Fujitsu.
The Permissions Model
This specifies who can see and use what data at what stage in the criminal justice process. For instance, prior to a criminal case being brought before the court, only the police and prosecution services can see the case details, with forensic science having access to evidence information. After the case becomes a court case, certain court officers and the judiciary can also see the details. The model also contains additional levels of security for sensitive data such as the names and addresses of vulnerable witnesses and victims.
The Service Requirement
A combination of the above three products combined into an output-based service requirement that formed the basis of the programme's procurement phase.
